Banner-Lite SRD

I first played Stoic's Banner Saga when it came to Switch in 2018 and it was something really special. Incredible 2d animations and strategic tactical combat all wrapped up in a pretty compelling, fantasy Nordic aesthetic.

Ever since I began developing my own games I've wanted to take the mechanics from Banner Saga and adapt them into a Table Top RPG. It seemed so obvious to me that it was a perfect fit. The games rules practically already function as a squad based TTRPG system. I set out to compile everything I could from fan wikis, documentation, and my own experience playing the game to create a complete Banner Saga TTRPG.

This is not that game.

Banner-Lite is a stepping stone toward that game but one I'm very excited to publish. Inspired by Unknown Dungeon's 2024 One Page RPG Game Jam Banner-Lite takes the absolute core, bare bones mechanics of Banner Saga and lay's them out as a framework to build smaller games and TTRPGs up from. I've design three One Page RPGs for the Jam using this system (though, admittedly they are closer to combat encounters and a board game prototype than traditional TTRPGs). Those games are ready to play right now and can be found on my profile!
