Matt Colville, design director for Draw Steel, has occasionally in past live streams mentioned that he doesn't think there are Angels in Orden or the Timescape... Traditional Abrahamic Angels anyway. So what kind of being could fulfill the role and visual aesthetic left behind? Winged (sometimes) beings that are renowned warriors and exalters of the dead. The answer for me was obvious. Valkyries.

As a Valkyrie Hero you are a Portent of War. Your presence in a battle instills fear in your enemies who know Valkyries as heralds of victory and death. Ride into combat on your loyal steed as a master of mounts, or fly under the power of your own mighty wings. Tap into your innate fury and stride from death to death. Look upon your fallen comrades and commend their spirits to the great feasting halls of the higher realms you call home.
